WHAT ARE BUCKWHEAT HULLS AND MILLET HULLS?
Buckwheat hulls: are the outer husks of the buckwheat kernel, the hull protects the seed from various elements in nature. Did you know buckwheat is actually a fruit and not a wheat! Millet hulls: are tiny yellow round husks surrounding the millet grain.
WHICH IS THE RIGHT PILLOW FOR YOU? BUCKWHEAT HULLS OR MILLET HULLS?
We feel that both pillows offer the exact same support, simply because the hulls work by displacing the same amount of volume. Buckwheat Pillows can be used for both hot and cold therapy and Millet Pillows can be used only for cold therapy. The main difference between the two hull pillows is the feel and texture of the hulls in the pillow. The texture of the buckwheat is coarse and tends to make a slight rustling sound when changing positions. This usually takes a few days to get adjusted to. The coarse texture allows the buckwheat pillow to hold a firmer position for individuals who like a firmer pillow.
Unlike the buckwheat hulls coarse texture, millet hulls silky smooth texture makes for a quiet pliable pillow, giving the feeling of softness and comfort, while still providing proper neck and spinal support. We recommend millet hull pillows to individuals who like a more soft cuddly pillow, great for people switching from pillows such as down or feather.
HOW DO I USE A BUCKWHEAT OR MILLET HULL PILLOW?
Before sleeping on you pillow, make an indentation in the center on the pillow with your hand. Place your head in the indentation and let the hulls conform around your head and neck, supporting your head in the proper cervical position. For sleeping on your side, let the pillow be pulled up close to the shoulder area for maximum support to keep head and spine parallel, while providing proper neck support.
HOW DOES THE PILLOW HELP RELIEVE NECK AND BACK TENSION? HEADACHES?
The passive and compliant support of buckwheat hulls support the entire neck and head area uniformly, allowing muscles, tendons, and bones to relax in their natural preferred position. The natural curve between your head and shoulders is part of your cervical curve and needs to be supported properly. Buckwheat pillows form to your natural curve causing immediate relaxation of the shoulder and neck muscles during sleep allowing the nerves to heal form the daily irritation of back, head, and shoulder movements.
The complete and almost immediate relaxation of your muscles while laying on a buckwheat pillow tends to lower blood pressure, which is a major cause of stress related headaches. The optional aroma therapy also contributes excellent results in immediate relaxation and meditation.
SNORING?
Many people ask us "why does our pillows help with snoring?". It is simple, with the head fully back and the neck properly supported, airway passages are more opened and less restrictive. Helping many users sleep more soundly.
HOW ARE THE PILLOWS HELPFUL WITH LOWER BACK PAIN?
When the neck is placed in its natural cervical shape, the spinal cord is relaxed, which puts less stress on the lumbar nerve roots where they exit the spine. This is often a source of pain when there is any type of disk problems. You can also achieve additional relaxation of the spinal cord when you place a pillow under your knees.
HOW LONG DO HULL PILLOWS LAST?
Hull pillows can last a lifetime with proper care. The hulls do not break down or wear out, but they do become polished with use. This polishing process actually allows the buckwheat to work better than new because the hulls move and conform to your contours easier.
WHAT ABOUT ALLERGIC REACTIONS?
Our hulls are air washed and well recleaned for high quality ultra clean hulls. A clean pillow is a healthy pillow! A pillow free of pesticides and chemicals is the only way to have 100% all natural products. Hulls are hypoallergenic, so very few people are allergic to the husks themselves. Hull pillows are a great alternative for people who are allergic to foam or feathers. We also use 100% cotton, high-quality pillow ticking. Still a person must be cautious, if allergy symptoms do appear, discontinue use of the pillow. Please report any allergic reactions to us and if symptoms do continue see a physician immediately.
CAN I COOL OR HEAT MY BUCKWHEAT PILLOW?
Buckwheat hull pillows can be heated or cooled by placing your product in the microwave or in the freezer. Millet hull pillows can only be cooled. Heating and cooling instructions come with each pillow.
